If you´re like me, you must find it hard to find a wall calendar that fits all your requirements. Some have beautiful pictures but barely any space to write on, others are too damn hideous, most of them require a nail or at least some strong adhesive to stick to your wall and not fall in the middle of the night...
So...I decided to make a more personal version, made of Post-It notes.

Si son como yo, debe ser difícil para ustedes encontrar un calendario de pared que cumpla con todos tus requerimentos. Algunos tienen fotos padres pero no tienen mucho espacio para escribir, otros son muy feos, muchos requieren el uso del martillo o al menos de un pegamento fuerte para que no se caiga a mitad de la noche.
Asi que....decidí hacer una versión más personalizada, hecha de Post-Its:
Here's what you need:
- Post-It notes, or look-alikes (there are some other brands that make self adhesive notes in the market). Any color that suits your décor is fine :)
- Pen/Markers
Optional:
- Masking tape
- Business Cards
- Scissors
- Magazine cut-outs
Esto es lo que necesitas:
- Post-its o cualquier marca de notas adhesivas, del color que tu quieras, o que tengas ya disponible por ahi
- Plumones
Opcional:
- Masking tape
- Tarjetas de presentación (pueden ser recicladas)
- Tijeras
- Recortes de revistas
Step 1: Decide which colour combination you will go with and start writing down each number on one of the post it notes; here I used my agenda to guide me through the month´s calendar, since I decided to use a star-shaped Post-It for weekends.
Paso 1: Decide qué combinación de colores usarás y empieza a escribir cada uno de los dias en un post-it (1,2,3,4 etc :P) Yo usé mi agenda para guiarme para ese mes, porque decidí usar unos post-it en forma de estrella para los fines de semana
Continue until you finish the 30 or 31 days of that given months, one for each post it.
Sigue escribiendo hasta que termines los 30 o 31 días del mes que estás haciendo, uno en cada post-it
You can help yourself and adhere the notes to a clean surface while you write down the rest of the days
Te puedes ayudar y pegar las notas en alguna superfice limpia, mientras que escribes el resto de los días
Align them on a grid according to the month you´re working on. It doesn´t have to be perfectly aligned, just take the previous post-it as a reference, or you can improvise and do a circular calendar, or any shape that comes to your mind :)
Et voila! There´s your wall calendar! You can cross out the days as they pass, remove them from the wall, or recycle the ones where you didn't do anything (like me, oh so boring) and use them from the next month.
Alinea los post-its en una cuadrícula dependiendo del mes (si el 1ero cae en martes, pues empiezas desde el 2do espacio, etc). No tiene que estar perfectamente alineada, sólo toma el post-it previo como referencia, o puedes improvisar y hacer un calendario circular, o cualquier forma que se te ocurra :)
Y pues ahi esta! Tu propio calendario de pared. Puedes tachar los dias conforme pasan, despegarlos de la pared, o , si tienes días muy aburridos como yo y se quedan en blanco haha, los puedes reciclar para cuando hagas el mes siguiente.

I used magazine cut outs for letters, to spell out the days of the week. Yes, just like your old-fashiones psycho killer who sends letters:
Yo usé recortes de revistas para las letras, para escribir los días de la semana (como aquellas cartas de asesinos seriales de las películas)
Since this month´s calendar was all about colour, I did the same with these. Once you found enough letters to spell out the days of the week, start pasting them onto the back of used business cards (to keep on the eco theme) in any way you want: all aligned, or scrapbook style:
Ya que para este calendario me volé la barda con el color, hice lo mismo con las letras (pues ya que, verdad). Ya que encuentras suficientes letras para hacer los días, empieza a pegarlas a la parte de atrás de las tarjetas de presentación (para seguir reciclando), como quieras: todas alineadas, una sobre otra....
To add yet an extra touch of personalization and to help me with my french class, I put the days of the week in french :)
Para añadir todavía otro toque personal y para ayudarme con mis clases de francés, puse los días de la semana en francés:
You can draw freehand around them, or if you don't feel like cutting out all those letters, simply remember your calligraphy lessons and write them down
Puedes dibujar a mando alzada, o si no quieres andar cortando las letras, acuérdate de las clases de caligrafía de la primaria y haz letra bonita:
(btw that´s not chewing gum, It´s called Pritt Tak and it´s used to glue these stuff onto different surfaces and not damage them/leave traces)
And there you have it! Your personalized wall calendar, with enough space to write down your appointments :)
